Google and Yelp ratings are review-gamed and skewed toward tourists. The restaurant everybody in the neighborhood goes to doesn't have 2,000 reviews — it has a loyal regular crowd and a sparse Yelp page. Sponsored placements push the chains. The locals know something the algorithm doesn't.
How It Works
CityPopn mines Reddit threads, local subreddits, and other neighborhood-signal sources to surface the restaurants people who actually live there name unprompted. No stars, no paid placement. Organized by city and filterable by category — it's a ranked list of the places locals keep bringing up. 40 cities live, expanding.
